Australia and New Zealand Association of Oral Surgeons

Our Vision
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral Surgeons (ANZAOS) is the professional body that represents Oral Surgeons. Our mission is to advance the specialty of Oral Surgery through education, training, research, and policy advocacy—ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and equitable surgical care to our communities.

Education
ANZAOS is committed to the advancement of Oral Surgery education at all levels. We actively support:

• The integration and delivery of Oral Surgery teaching in undergraduate dental programs.
   
• The development and oversight of Oral Surgery training programs across Australia and New Zealand.
   
• The provision of high-quality continuing professional development (CPD) for both Oral Surgeons and general dentists.
   
• Educational engagement through conferences, workshops, webinars, and access to curated learning resources.
   

Public Health
We advocate for improved access to Oral Surgery services as a core component of public oral health. ANZAOS supports:

• The provision and sustainability of Oral Surgery services within the public health system.
   
• Public awareness of Oral Surgery and its role in broader health care.
   
• The development of national and binational policies that support timely, safe, and appropriate surgical care for all patients.
   

Professional Representation
At its core, ANZAOS exists to support and represent Oral Surgeons throughout their careers. We aim to:

• Build a professional community for Oral Surgeons in private, public, academic, and rural settings.
   
•  Support the recognition of the AHPRA recognition of the specialty.
   
• Engage with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, universities, and health departments on issues relevant to the specialty.
   
• The Association will continue to advocate for inclusion of Oral Surgery in the Public Sector because of the growing need for such services.
